About Systematic Crypto Research
Who’s Behind This Research
My name is Vince. I’m a marine ecologist nearing retirement after an unusual but successful career focused on creating marine protected areas and restoring marine habitats. That work taught me how to approach complex systems systematically, analyze data rigorously, and communicate findings clearly—skills that translate surprisingly well to evaluating crypto trading systems.
For the past three years, I’ve been researching Finrev, an automated crypto trading platform developed by Real Trading Research. I’ve tracked the platform’s performance across different market conditions, and now Finrev handles all my trading, allowing me to observe the algorithm and trade execution working from the inside. In mid-2025, I became a full member and active investor.
Before that, I traded many financial instruments—Forex, options, and stocks—over several decades. I have always been much better at learning new trading strategies and analysis than actually trading. As a trader, I was the textbook case of the amateur: scoring significant wins and losses, moving from one strategy to the next. In recent years, technology around algorithmic trading has exploded the opportunities, and it has become clear to me that I am a perfect fit for focusing on automated trading. As a keen amateur trader, I often ignored risk or didn’t understand it. Now I look for a state-of-the-art statistical definition of risk and reward behind every move I take. The hard lessons of trading your own money inevitably lead here.
I’m now following Finrev’s transition to a more sophisticated vault-based system on Hyperliquid, integrating multiple trading models through smart contracts. This kind of systematic, incremental innovation is exactly what captures my research interest.
Important: I don’t work for Finrev or Real Trading Research. I’m a paying member, investor, and affiliate who is documenting my own use of the platform.
Why I’m Doing This (And Why I’m Faceless)
Two things drive this project:
First, I genuinely enjoy the challenge. Rule-based trading and automated systems are intellectually engaging. Understanding what actually works, under what conditions, and with what risks is a puzzle that keeps pulling me back to learn more.
Second, and more importantly: sharing knowledge multiplies the reward. I’ve taught at both high school and tertiary levels, and helping others learn makes this work far more satisfying than just trading for myself. Teaching is simply part of who I am.
As for why you won’t see my face on camera—I’m keeping this work separate from my marine ecology career where I’ve built considerable professional authority over decades. I’m not hiding anything; I’m maintaining appropriate boundaries between two very different professional domains. I’d also rather spend my limited time on research and analysis than on camera work and personal branding.
I prefer to let the work speak for itself.
My Approach: Research First, Hype Never
Here’s what you need to know about how I operate:
I have skin in the game. I invest my own capital through Finrev. When I discuss performance, risks, or strategy adjustments, I’m talking about decisions that affect my own portfolio—including draw-downs and difficult market conditions, not just the wins.
I’m transparent about incentives. Yes, if you join Finrev through my introduction, I receive affiliate benefits. This is disclosed clearly on every relevant page and video. But I was a paying member before I became an affiliate, and I’d be tracking this data and sharing my research regardless of whether anyone else joined.
I’m systematic, not promotional. My background is in research and data analysis, reinforced by decades working with complex ecological systems. You’ll find detailed performance tracking, honest discussion of both wins and losses, and educational content that helps you understand the methodology—not hype, income promises, or hard sales tactics.
I focus deeply rather than broadly. This isn’t a platform comparison site. I’m diving deep into Finrev and its evolution because that’s what I have time for as a part-time project, and because I believe focused expertise serves you better than surface-level coverage of many platforms.
What You’ll Find Here
This site documents my research into Finrev’s automated trading system as it transitions to the HyperTrend vault on Hyperliquid. You’ll find transparent performance tracking and analysis, educational content explaining how strategies work, updates on platform development and ecosystem changes, honest assessment of risks and appropriate use cases, and data-driven decision making—not emotional trading advice or sensational headlines.
As the site develops, I expect to expand into research on other high-value crypto opportunities as they emerge. For now, the focus remains on systematic analysis of automated trading through Finrev and HyperTrend.
Critical risk disclosure: Crypto trading, leverage, and automated systems are high-risk. You can lose some or all of the capital you invest. Never allocate money you cannot afford to lose. I’m not a financial advisor, and nothing here is financial advice. I’m a researcher sharing what I’m learning and how I’m approaching automated trading as an active participant.
The Bottom Line
I’m doing this because I find it intellectually engaging, see potential worth exploring with my own capital, and believe the work becomes more meaningful when others can learn and benefit alongside me—including from the missteps and rough patches.
If you value clear data, honest discussion of risk, and a measured approach to systematic trading, you’re in the right place.
